    The enhanced tray's filter is what stands between airborne dust and twelve fans cooling your interface modules. A loaded filter chokes airflow — and Cisco's hardware guide warns that inadequate cooling risks damaging interface modules through overheating.

    Cisco's ASR 903 Hardware Installation Guide puts the filter on an interval: monthly in standard or outdoor environments, quarterly in controlled ones. It is single-use — replaced, not cleaned — so operators running wayside cabinets and remote sites buy by the fleet, not by the each.

It fits the Cisco ASR 903 Aggregation Services Router — specifically the A903-FAN-E Enhanced Fan Tray filter slot, with no modification. It is NOT compatible with the ASR 902 (A902-FAN-E / A902-FAN-F) or the ASR 902U fan tray. If your chassis is an ASR 903 with the enhanced fan tray's slide-in filter and pull tab, this is the correct part.

Is this a genuine Cisco part?

It is a new, made-in-USA direct equivalent manufactured to OEM specification — not a Cisco-branded part. Cisco's ASR 903 Hardware Installation Guide explicitly permits replacement "with PID (A903-FAN-F=) or equivalent."
